On January 31, 2025 Jet Rescue Air Ambulance operated Learjet 55 departed from Northeast Philadelphia Airport at 6:06 p.m.
The aircraft existed to fly an ill Mexican child accompanied by her mother from United States medical facilities to their Tijuana residence.
The aircraft carried four crew members among which medical professionals worked to safeguard patient transportation.
The flight sustained a devastating development that brought tragedy right after it lifted off.
Witnesses observed the jetplane fighting to climb higher before it fell close to the busy intersection next to Roosevelt Mall.
The aircraft crash caused multiple disasters that started fires which burned homes while vehicles caught on fire and produced dark smoke columns that rose through the sky during evening hours.
Resident Jim Quinn recorded his house camera footage which showed the jet aircraft before its devastating collapse.
He recounted, “All we heard was a loud roar and didn’t know where it was coming from. We immediately turned and saw the large smoke plume materialize from the air.
Emerging emergency vehicles rapidly reached the incident area.
The firefighters struggled against residential building fires alongside medical teams who provided care to those who became hurt in the incident.
The incident resulted in six ground casualties who led to hospital admission for three among them.
The Mayor of Philadelphia Cherelle Parker appeared in front of the media to convey deep grief about what had occurred.
The mayor stressed how the city would assist impacted families while complimenting emergency services’ quick intervention.
“Our hearts are heavy today,” she remarked, “but our resolve to support our community remains steadfast.”
A full-scale investigation regarding the crash origin stands underway through collaboration between the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
